Liber Null

topic posted Sun, March 9, 2008 - 8:44 AM by  Jon
Hi, can anyone tell me if the IOT recommends to learn the white magic part of liber null?
Is it a manditory thing? In the book itself it says that either path is up to the magician but is it recommended to leanr both?
Thanks

Perhaps you should post this in the IOT tribe.

each of those stages are like karate belts. i think from what i was told .you study each stage and get tested somehow then you go up in rank. its a heirarchal organization.im not in the iot but i did do MMM for a year.

but yeah you should ask the iot tribe.

ha, karate belts are a concrescence of all that is wrong with martial science/arts.

They allow hierarchy. The point of study is to learn to fight and kill. The belt was originally so that you could observe the hips, but, then they had to introduce ranks to create hierarchy, and make more money--and produce ineffective fighters.

The "horse stance" was introduced in the 1950's so that kids would not hurt each other when they hit each other. You cannot punch effectively from this position, yet, people are trained to punch from this and other ridiculous stances. Only after they have paid the Sensei for a few years are they allowed to wear the coveted black belt, and maybe start to learn some real karate.

The book is an obscenely powerful Artefact.
The order of appearance is wrought with intention.

If unskilled in the arts of liberation, the workings of Liber NOX can, and most presumably will, prove exceedingly difficult to disentangle one's self from.

    Yes. Learn it.
    Master it.

i burnt mine in the firepplace when i went crazy . i blamed chaos magick for being crazy.
months later i then remembered that i was using the IOT for a rite of passage.

I hear a lot of this. People blaming chaos magic for going crazy.

This is like people having bad trips on acid. You have to be able to hold it together. Your magical diary is the anchor that ensures you do not "go crazy".

I could be totally wrong (I've never joined the IOT) but I heard that the IOT don't often use Liber LUX and NOX anymore - they got replaced by Liber KKK.

...which is not to say that Liber LUX isn't worth doing!

I suggest that whatever you leave out of your magical view might eventually lead to your undoing. Carroll called this principle Liber Boomerang. Anyway, why would you purposely deny yourself the possibilities of Liber Lux?

Because black magic is soooooooooooooooo kewl.....

Its kewl to be creepy and horrible. It will scare other men, and make me attractive to women. I will then walk around with a scowl on my face all day throwing hearses and curses everywhere I go.

I will then write the most rudimentary poetry and prose and proclaim them to be dark, unspeakable rites of the most evil, wicked, voodoo, ninja magic. I may one day realize that I am an otherkin with my otherkin half pure evil....

See? Black magic is so kewl I want to pee my pants. You better realize how cool it is, or just go and get a life right now!

--While this was a rather barbaric, uncivilized response, I couldn't resist. I meet so many kids like this who, as Pete says, "Can't fight, fuck, or bribe their way out of a wet paper bag."

Eh? If that was directed at me, I said that that DOESN'T mean it's not worth doing, not that it's not worth doing, lol. Excuse the double negatives. :P

Catherine, I for one was responding to the very first post, since I arrived late for this debate.

Frater Reilus, good to meet another graduate of the School of Hard Knocks.

Yes, those kewl ultra-black Kaos Majickians, how my face lights up when I see them! Hello young Frater Fukkup and Soror Nosedive, cruel to meet you. How much more scary and powerful you will be when you pierce the mysteries of Liber Lux. If you last that long.
