Why spend energy on a 50-50 gamble? It's 100% certain that someone will be elected, and equally certain that the new President and Vice President will have urgent need of wisdom and compassion. I aim to help all, and hinder none.

I'm totally in. Politics is a major way that things get done on this particular frequency band of the space-time continuum, and I think Obama is symbolic of a certain turning-point in America, in the direction of becoming a modern liberal democracy, like England, France, or Germany. I think it's a good time for those who would expand horizons to lend whatever effort they have to the push in this direction, as it seems we are at a point where the broad, societal decisions are being made, which we will all be subject to long after the decision period ends.

For example the economy is definitely restructuring, whether anybody likes it or not. So what are we going to do, try to pull it in a more growth- and innovation- led direction, or give these rich guys their money back and tough it out? Whether the country picks the old white guy or the young black guy, that's what really matters symbolically right now, because it is potentially a fundamental paradigm shift for the masses. Are we going to let the Xians put on their little Armageddon, or are we going to grow up and start applying ourselves to the task at hand?

So I think now more than at other times, it's a good idea to speak up with whatever I have: money, energy, whatever I have to bring to bear. Both because the facts on the ground are ripe for decisions with far-reaching consequences, and because political choices are rarely so conveniently spelled out. It's not hard to isolate the relevant variables in this picture.

I humbly suggest, that it might be better to do the work a little sooner. 'Enchant Long, Divine Short', that's all I'm saying.
