Kaotao
by J. A. Garcia

"The Kaotao is a very brief overview of the correlations between the eight colors of majik from the Chaos Majik of Peter Carroll, the eight immortals or Ba Xian of the Taoist pantheon and the eight trigrams of the I Ching. [The author's] purpose in putting this together in legible format was in the hope that fellow practitioners of the occult sciences and Chaos Majik in particular may find an easy reference correlating the sacred eight of the Taoist tradition to the sacred eight of the Chaos anti-tradition.

"It occurred to me during my paradigmal piracy of Taoist tradition that the number eight was of extreme import. In fact the number eight turns up more than once in awhile throughout history. Aside from the noted Taoist current you also find the eight in the Egyptian Ogdoad of the pre-creation universe. Pythagoras considered the number eight to be the number of perfection." —J A Garcia

This elegant, little booklet is well put together, and nicely illustrated. It represents a general superimposition of chaos magic over the Tao Te Ching.

Thank you for this shameless promotion....

How many pages in the booklet?

You know, in India, you can get Osho books for about 250 ruppies, in the US they cost 14 dollars. Ridiculous. I wonder if the IOT would consider publishing in India :)

All seriousness aside, the book seems like a cool perspective. I might purchase it. Just wondering about the pages....

      >Thank you for this shameless promotion....

About a year ago our thoughtful moderator asked if tribe members wanted updates from chaos magic suppliers like IOT Books, and the replies were on the whole positive. I think chaos magicians want access to, and knowledge of exclusive or newly-released, contemporary material, so it's often best to just post as a topic, since many people miss the post if it's just put in the listings. But, if you found this post off-topic do let me know.

      >How many pages in the booklet?

23 not including the intro and credits/index etc.

      >You know, in India, you can get Osho books for about 250 ruppies, in the US they cost 14 dollars. Ridiculous. I wonder if the IOT would consider publishing in India :)

I'm not the type of person who is going to whine that something is off topic. Nothing is off topic. People who cannot see the interconnections of experience have my sympathies--in so far as I feel sorry for them. I suppose I should have put a smiley after my quip. I do appreciate your respectful reply, though. It speaks of your cultured character.

Mmmm. Sounds like a get. I haven't seen all that much on Taoist magic, and I'd like to see another take on it.

Now I just need to find a way of paying without paying ...

Dood, - with the current exchange rate these are a steal...(and they might as well be in rupees)...
But I can save u cash by bringing them with me in September to the Colours of Chaos Seminar...
<ducking after yet another shameless plug>

An excellent suggestion! But ... can I wait that long?

I think not. I'll be in touch. BTW, a simple easy order/payment method?

the issue is to calculate the shipping - since you're in the BI, you probably should go through the ordering system on IOT Books... I have no idea as to shipping charges on top of the $5...
