I am not very familiar with chaomagick yet but I am wondering how pwrsonnality affect your performance. I know that it does in everyday life or day-to-day magic.

Is it necessary to clean up your personal terrain such as dealing with the shadow and the sediments of personal history in order to become a effective chaosmagician or is intent sufficient?

    Hey ENiad

    It's all about thought structure.
To recognize your own thoughts and having power over them.
To redirect your fate if you will.
You have to know who, you are, where you came from and what formed you to be what you are, and want to be.
Why do you want to use it.
If you know your intentions and what causes them, the willpower is all that is left.
You must be able to allow this magician in you to break free.
This involves tearing down the past, analysing, being confronted with yourself.
Back to innocence and building everything up again in the way of the will.
But the question remains, what do you want to become.
    ANd when do you 'become'
The way is the process, we work to what we want to become, and grow till we die, there is no end to what we can be, it's a spiral.

This is my idea about it.
Hope you get something out of it...

    Peace , Love and Nakedness...

      geert,

what if there are many things we want to become?

im beiginning to think i have to be many things all at once.

or, forgot identity somehow, because managing and building a distinct identity can be so complex.

it feels good to laugh and not try, but maybe thats what i want to become. XD

        Hey Ascendant Toxin..

I think we are all magicians.
We all have power to influence ourselves and our surroundings.
For me personally I use it to be in good harmony.
To be aware of all influences around me.
To me I find interesting what comes naturally.
        Even thoughts that come naturally.
A beginning in meditation allows you to be in peace and love with all that comes through.
Learn to love that what comes naturally.
It was a personal exploration, so in no way I expect anyone to understand, I can only hope they do.
I notice that when I express myself freely, from the heart, people react joyfull.
I always keep in mind the point of healing.
Persons change constantly, through experience and through learning.
I lean to the point before that. The point of true nature.
What was right in the beginning.
SO what you could ask yourself is what would happen if you take away the urge to "become" and look at what already "is".
Face yourself with love and laugh.
It helped me to become more open, spontaneous and patient.
It was a metomorphosis from clamping on to a set structure of thought to a more openminded, freespirited way of living.
And what is identity for you, and what is it to another.
You can only have an identity with others who identify.
And you identify with everything. Not to become, but to be..
        Maybe you recognise something.
Maybe not, but like I said, it is a very personal journey.
        But share if you care..

You have always practiced Chaos Magick.
    Pranked within Chaos.

    What exists?
Do you believe to conjure a shadow for yourself?
Genetic Atavisms still might. They can teach us things considerably more profound than our "consciousness pure"

Intent and follow-through, alone, will allow emergence of "success".
    Talk - Action = 0
    But who performs the actions?
    Words can hack.

Any trauma residing from Personal History demarks highly powerful success of past Magickal Workings - bolstered by their deep pre"conscious" nature.

What Magick would you seek to perform, beyond day-to-day? Life exists every day, even if that day occurs, only, on one day.

So then, "Higher"/"Deeper" Magick? Summon the Angles, backed by Fireworks and have _them_ perform a function that your personal belief places as beyond your capabilities?

Powerful Sorcerous activities filled with smoky incense, candles, chalices of miasma and glossollalic screams?
To earn the red-sports car, right?

How do you want to live?
    What does "I" want?
What does beyond "I" want? Make friends with them.

    Personality, and performance effects. Mmmm.
    Attitude, or *personality*?

    Playingfield of AIKKIA!! (IAO!)
    Success remains assured.
It always works. (What conjuration, precisely, did you unleash?)

    Know thyselves.

    And, y'know,
    mostly just
    ENJOY.

    MAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHA!

    (Evoke often. Banish with Laughter)

Yes, we are all magicians but more like Beethoven’s magic apprentice and what we get is not always of our liking. Of course, we are all in the soup.

I see Chaosmagick has what the Secret is peddling but smarter.
Is it a smart way of surfing the probability lines?

What are the starter exercises in Chaosmagick or is it a general category?

            It's basics are.:
            Use everything in your power.
Use every technique possible to get there where you want to be.
It is a magic without boundaries, without any set rituals.
It takes everything from history and every culture.

A good beginning would be meditation.
Maybe at a later state you can start offering sheep... haha.. just kidding.
            Simple breathing exercises.
Exploring your personal space, focussing on your thought structure.
There are many more exercizes, a lot to be found on the internet.
I can really recommend the book "Condensed Chaos" by Phil Hine.
He gives a great view on this new kind of magic.
          • Re: Personal terrain or intent?

            Sat, November 29, 2008 - 12:09 PM
Geert speaks true; and Hine has a very lucid structure to his book.
Depending on your level of seriousness, Ray Sherwin's "Book of Results" also intones techniques of life altering value; one of the most effective portions of it, Hine has accessible on his site; "Demons of Habit, by Ray Sherwin" www.philhine.org.uk/writings...abit.html

It details, in and of itself, one of the ultimate goals of the Magickian, one that has caused many orthodox (read: peculiarly dogmatic) Chaoates to dismiss and disregard Astrology; The Personal Pantheon, or "Alphabet of Desire".

Practices vary, and I assure you, all those who have posted in this thread will approach their Art with highly varied styles. Granted, indeed, some overlap can take place.

You do not need a healthy body to work successful magick - but it helps.
You do not need to have mastered your mind to work successful magick - momentary events in which you can over power it (Gnosis) suffice.
You do not need to master Magick to live well - in fact it may draw in the deeper insanities - but it sure can add a richness to the experience.

            Basic practices?
Magick operates through the medium of Belief.
Begin, and do not stop, stalking your beliefs. (Hine says: Eternal Vigilance is the price we pay for Illumination)

Create for yourself a Banishing Ritual.
Banishing Rituals work to clear a space, to clear the Magus, and to _compose_ one's self. All errant energies sorted. Protection from outside distraction erected, and a sense of clear and calm focus attained.

Borrow one from another tradition if you seek inspiration. Mine have, over time, become increasingly simplistic - but on occasion a fully involved, ritual of foot-body-arm movements, intoned vowels, and chanted statements feels necessary - it certainly helps to have a nice one for back up. As Hine mentions, also (I believe in Condensed Chaos) - showy ritual helps a lot when preforming a ceremony for *other people*. It bolsters belief (as all ritual serves as a prop to do, ultimately) and helps them *feel* the magick working.

Take walks. During these walks, allow yourself *no* distractions. No Cellphone. No MP3 or CD Player. No conversation with friends (unless you meet them on the course of your journey - do not allow them or anything else to alter the course of, or accompany you on your venture until it has completed itself) Simply observe. Play games of observation. See how many subtle details you can spot in a place that seems visually pleasing. Contemplate what about it feels visually pleasing. Do the same in a place that feels very visually repulsive. Notice what about it feels VISUALLY repulsive. Do the same for smell, for sound, and for texture. Experiment with new foods.

Choose a god(dess) and start a relationship with them. Exchange praises and offerings for services provided (keep the requests limited to those realms in which the diety governs). Do not allow yourself to become an Idle Worshipper. Find more dieties to play with. Even Bugs Bunny.

Stalk your beliefs. What underlying assumptions have you made that guide your practices? "Nothing is true. Everything is Permitted."
Stalk your practices. How closely do they correspond to idealistic beliefs?
Stalk your demons. Learn their names, the moments that they use to exert their power, their likes and dislikes, and how you can learn from them and put them into valuable service. Demons act to teach us if we let them, destroy us if we don't.

Practice techniques which result in free-energy, and behaviours which result in increasing liberation and diversity of options.

What do I mean by "Free-Energy"?
I mean the Erisian energy of the unexpected (All Hail Discordia!) which surfaces by walking home via a new route. Or discarding old habits and patterns of greeting, for adoption of a new one. Start small with the changes, to build success and familiarity. Anything can, later, result.
The energy which has remained pent each time we don't express exactly what we'd like to say (not as a reaction to provocation, but as a genuine insight, forsomereasonsuppressed) that becomes liberated through our freeing (read: speaking) of it.
The latent stagnant energy of tasks partially completed, drawn forth through completion.
And especially, most especially of all - the free energy of fresh understanding. True listening allows this - not attempting to suckle what you *think* someone says out of their words, but the genuine communication wrapped up in linguistic structures. We have two ears and two eyes, and one mouth, as the North American Aboriginals say.

As you advance, begin to seek out *non-verbal* communications. Notice the information presented in all things, not just the writing, but the size, colour, and angle of the font. The picture in the background. The posture of the person in the bus seat next to you. Your own body posture when faced with someone who encites relaxation in you. Your posture with someone who provokes aggressive sensations within yourself.

            Apply this to memetics.

Send praises to Chaos. Baphomet. Thanateros. Livdieviding Complexified Coagulating Sex-Death Force. Moth-Father to us all.
            IAO. IAO. IAO!

            Evoke often. Banish with laughter.

(Liber Null and Psychonaut remains one of the most overall practical tomes available.)

If it wasn't for this wonderful (if not distracting) communications tool, I never would have discovered my path. Currently, I am a solitary practitioner, and I after having read Condensed Chaos, I am going to read Liber Null and Psychnaught. Took a break and am readying several other books, never a bad thing to learn from several sources.
Good luck! Or better yet, make your own.

oh but we love the internet, don't we. we're all using it right now.

so much power and moving at incredible speeds, being stationary in the real world is much more constraining.

odd that if i were to photograph myself bent over a keyboard for hours i appear to be more in bondage

then when im freely walking around the world and feel like im trapped inside XD

i'm not familiar with chaosmagick either!

for me, exploring childhood and the past is essential to accepting and understanding who i am now.

otherwise you risk denial, or bringing up heavy emotional issues/patterns from your past that interfere with true willpower.

have compassion for yourself and i think personal history will heal itself, and be rewarded.

move away from the past with a blind eye and you have decided, but it comes back to haunt you.

the child you were/are is closer to who you truly are than what you think you are.

just my two cents, please tell me if im an idiot and shouldn't be posting my thoughts on here XD
